Saturday, June 26, 9:00 a.m - Kensington I Walk (meet in front of the Kensington Library, 4121 Adams Ave)
Join us for a two mile walk through the core area of Kensington, focusing on the commercial area and some of the surrounding residential neighborhoods, with highlights of its history and architecture. Walk will conclude by 10:20am in time for folks to attend the Kensington Clean Energy Festival taking place between 10:30am and 2:30pm. This is the first of two walks in Kensington.
Saturday, July 17, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - Balboa Park II Walk (meet at 6th Ave and Laurel St)
This is the complimentary walk to the April 16 walk that discussed the 1915 Exposition; this walk will explore the legacy the 1935 Exposition had on Balboa Park and San Diego, with highlights of the buildings and activities the fair provided to San Diegans and visitors from around the world. As usual, some great historic photos from that time. A modest 4-mile walk on mostly flat terrain.
Saturday, August 14, 2010: 9:00a.m. - Kensington II Walk (Meet in front of the Kensington Library, 4121 Adams Ave)
This is the second of two walks in Kensington, focusing on some of the neighborhood areas not covered on the June 26 walk. This walk will highlight the different time periods various neighborhoods developed in Kensington, and how the street design and architecture varied between these periods. This will be a 3-4 mile walk with lots of great old photos and stories of years gone by.
SB375 Public Workshops Sponsored by the California Air Resources Board
California's Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act (SB375)--calls for each region to adopt a Sustainable Communities Strategy that will combine land use and transportation planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) is holding a series of public workshops on greenhouse gas reduction target setting process. As part of the workshop, ARB staff will present an overview of efforts underway to develop a target setting approach, and take public input on the process.
